Q: When I connect to
the Internet, the computer asks for my username and password.
I type it in, but it keeps asking me. What's wrong?
A: The username and password combination
you are entering, is not matching our accounts database. You should
make sure that the username and password that you are entering
is in all lowercase with no spaces. CTI's login process is case
sensitive, so please note that we have entered your username and
password using all lower case letters and no spaces.
Q:
Why does my computer gives me a message stating "No dial
tone".
A: A no dial tone error message means your
modem is not picking up a dial tone from the phone line. This
can be caused by three things: a disconnected phone cord, a faulty
modem, telephone line trouble. First, you should double check
your computer's telephone cords. The line from the telephone outlet
should be plugged into the "line" port on your modem.
If you are sure that the cords are properly connected, then you
should check for a dial tone at the telephone outlet. If you receive
a dial tone there, but not at the computer, a technician may need
to replace your modem. Lightning damage is the most common cause
of this problem.
Q:
Why does my e-mail take so long to download?
A: Chances are that you have a large message
waiting in your mailbox. The time it will take to download depends
completely on the size of the message. Alternatively, you can
check your email with our web based client found on our
access e-mail page.
Q: How can I change the home page that my browser uses?
A: In Internet Explorer, click Tools, then
Internet Options. The home page is specified in the first box,
you can change that page to website you prefer.
Q: How can I access my 10 megabytes of free web space?
A: When you are ready to access your webspace,
please send an email to staff@ctitech.com.
Please be sure note the software you plan
to use. Once your folder is prepared, you can use Microsoft FrontPage,
or an FTP program such as WS_FTP. You can download WS_FTP from
CNET's Download.com.
Q: Since my computer is connected to the Internet, should I have
a virus scanner and/or a firewall installed on my computer?
A: We strongly recommend that any computer
using the Internet have a virus scanning software installed. Viruses
and worms are becoming more prevalent everyday. We feel firewall's
are not necessary. However, it is important that you apply the
critical updates published by Microsoft at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com.
Q: My browser give me a message that the page cannot be found.
Is there something wrong with my computer?
A:
This message can be received under several circumstances. Most
commonly, it is because the website you have requested has moved,
does not exist anymore, or is misspelled. Also, your browser may
not be set to connect to the Internet first. You can check this
by clicking Tools, then Internet Options, then Connections, and
verify that it is set to "Dial my default connection".
Also, be sure that CTI Internet is your default connection.
